Description:
The Program Director will be responsible and accountable for operating the ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program. The role involves administering and maintaining an educational environment conducive to educating residents in all ACGME competency areas, with a focus on training compassionate, competent psychiatrists prepared for independent practice. Job Specifics:
- Time Commitment: Provide dedicated time for program administration as required by ACGME, with an FTE of 0.50 for administrative responsibilities.
- Develop and oversee quality didactic and clinical education experiences at all participating sites.
- Establish goals, objectives, policies, and evaluation metrics in accordance with ACGME program requirements.
- Monitor resident teaching, supervision, and well-being across training sites.
- Recruit and appoint local site directors accountable for resident education at each participating site.
- Recruit, evaluate, and approve program faculty; ensure their continued participation based on evaluations.
- Oversee program evaluations, ensuring compliance with ACGME and institutional policies.
- Prepare and submit all required documentation to ACGME in a timely manner to maintain accreditation.
- Provide each resident with a documented, comprehensive evaluation and individualized learning plan at least twice yearly.
- Maintain regular communication with residents during inpatient and outpatient rotations and monitor stress, wellness, and performance.
- Chair the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
- Participate actively in Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) meetings.
- Encourage and mentor residents and faculty in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Recruitment and Budgeting:
- Annually recruit a qualified and diverse cohort of medical students through the NRMP Match.
- Monitor and plan program budget costs in collaboration with institutional leadership.
- Institutional Collaboration:
- Attend required meetings (e.g., GMEC) and collaborate with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and Program Coordinator.
Requirements:
- Certification and Licensure:
- Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Unrestricted licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice psychiatry in State .
- Minimum of 3+ years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in Psychiatry Residency Programs (e.g., Core Faculty, Associate Program Director, or Program Director).
- Demonstrated excellence in patient care, teaching, and leadership.
- Evidence of ongoing scholarly activity per ACGME requirements (e.g., research, presentations, quality improvement projects).
- Strong clinical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Dedication to team-oriented care and resident education.
- Familiarity with and adherence to ACGME and institutional policies and procedures.
