Locums General Surgery - Petersburg, VA Assignment Dates - Start: February 2025 - Ongoing - Open Dates: - April 21-28 - May 12-19 - June 2-9 - July 14-21 Coverage Need - Reason for Coverage: Shortage Position Details - Practice Setting: Hospital-based - Trauma Level: III - Patient Age Demographics: Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric - Average Surgical Cases Per Day: Based on ER patients - EMR System: Epic - Operating Rooms: 9 - General Surgeons in Practice: 4 - Procedures Required: - General surgical cases (Adult and Trauma) - Chest wall/pleural procedures - Central line insertion - PA catheter placement - Ventilation management - Chest tube insertion - Aneurysm repairs (Abdominal, Peripheral, Vascular access devices) - AV shunt - Cholecystectomy - Nissen fundoplication - Hernioplasty - Upper and lower GI endoscopy, including sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy Submissions Requirements - Board Certified (ABOS or AOBOS): Required - Active VA License: Required (must be currently active) - BLS/ACLS: Required - Clean background: Required - COVID-19 Vaccination: Preferred; must have by the time of credentialing Skill Requirements - General surgical cases (Adult and Trauma) - Chest wall/pleural procedures - Endoscopy procedures (Upper, Lower, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy) - Central line insertion and PA catheter placement - Chest tube insertion and ventilation management Additional Information - Lodging: $150/night (approved for standard/economy rates) - Weekend Coverage: Yes
