Position Summary:
Responsible for preoperative assessment of patient status and ordering of preoperative medication under supervision with administration of drugs to produce sedation or anesthesia, insert arterial, venous catheters, and monitors the patient during anesthesia until the patient regains consciousness. The CRNA is frequently involved with the Code 88 team for resuscitation.
Experience: 0 to 3 months. Preferred previous cardiac anesthesia experience.
Education/Required License / Credentials: Current requirements to CRNA graduates. Current NJ-RN license and AANA Council eligible/certified. Minimum requirement of current ACLS. Maintains CEU status according to AANA Council on Re-Certification. Confirmation of credentials must be communicated to hospital Credentials Committee. APN certification, or pending application as required.
Contact With Others: Regular internal and/or external contacts involving tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent.
Supervision Given: Part-time supervision of anesthesia trainees.
Supervision Received: Performs duties following established procedures and reporting to immediate supervisor.
