What You'll Do
As a B&P Customer Specialist 1, you’ll be the primary contact responding to inquiries from internal and/or external customers, applying skills and procedures to provide a high level of value and service while creating effective working relationships with all customers. You’ll be consistently learning while having a rich variety in the work you do, which includes:
- Using online procedural manuals and system applications to effectively interpret and resolve customer inquiries and provide clear and accurate information and education to promote understanding of product and services.
- Educating customers regarding online resources available to promote self-service for most efficient access to information and increased transaction efficiencies.
- Serving as a SME on key administrative processes including billing options, eligibility processes, reconciliation/audit of billing statement, and assisting with other complex customer issues.
- Using problem-solving skills and in-depth product knowledge to identify process improvement opportunities which promote cost effective service delivery.
- Providing service which meet established compliance and state regulatory requirements. Performing other job-related duties or special projects as the needed.

Who You Are
- 2+ years of customer service experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- Ability to develop a broad understanding of insurance operations, products and concepts across all lines.
- Strong computer skills, competence, and proficiency at keyboarding.
- Potential to build positive relationships with diverse internal and external distribution channels, make quick judgements, and respond to difficult situations that requires tact and discretion.
- Good decision-making when working on complex casework and making exceptions during new business processing.
- Ability to prioritize work while maintaining service standards in the face of peak times, heavy workloads and with frequent interruptions.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and multi-tasking skills in a fast paced, changing environment with high accuracy and within established turnaround times.
- Effective team member and a positive influence within the organization.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$17.74 - $35.19 / hour
Time Off Program
Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Hours
While we're open to an 8 hour shift anywhere from 7am-5pm CST, we prefer someone who can work our later shift, specifically until 5pm CST Mon-Fri.
Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
