Job Summary: Critical Care nursing position at Great Plains Health, focusing on PCU with float to ICU.Department: Critical CareNumber of Beds: 32Nurse/Patient Ratios: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MedSurg 1:5Common diagnoses include: Heavy cath lab procedures, sepsis, neurosurgery, drug & alcohol abuse, COPD, CHF.

Job Requirements

Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSSExperience: First time traveler okay. Prefer ICU background, otherwise must have PCU background.Must be able to titrate drips.Comfortable taking PCU (1:4) or MedSurg (1:5) patients.

Schedule Information

12Hr shifts: 545a-6p & 545p-6aSchedule is out for 6-weeks at a time, 2 weeks in advance.Weekend Requirements: At least every other, if not most all weekendsHoliday Requirements: Varies, but usually will staff into holidays as needed.

Unit Specific Information

Floating Requirements: No floating outside of this mixed unit.Scrub Color: Royal blue scrubs.Unit specific orientation includes hospital orientation and training for 2 shifts on the unit.

Additional Details

Charge Nurse on each shift: 1 charge nurse every shift, only takes patients if necessary.Hospitalist in house 24/7 for their patients.RT in ICU 24/7 with necessary equipment.
